Mt. Tsukuba Cable Car

~ from Tsukubasan-jinja (Mt. Tsukuba shrine) to the mountaintop ~ The cable car line, which was built in 1925, is the second oldest cable car line in the Kanto region, and the fifth oldest in Japan. One of the greatest cable cars in Japan, Mt. Tsukuba cable car links Miyawaki Station and Tsukuba-sancho Station, located on Miyukigahara Plateau. The line is 1,634 meters long with a difference in altitude of 495 meters. The trip takes 8 minutes, covering 3.5 meters per second.

~ from Tsutsujigaoka to the mountaintop ~
Opened in 1965, the Swiss-made Mt. Tsukuba Ropeway operates from Tsutsujigaoka Station to Nyotai-san Station, a distance of 1,296 meters. The 6 minute trip covers 5 meters per second, with a difference in altitude of 298 meters.
